Missing 9-Year-Old Found Safe After Dothan Search

DOTHAN, Ala. — A 9-year-old child was found safe Thursday afternoon after a rapid response by the Dothan Police Department.

At approximately 1:20 p.m., officers responded to reports of a missing juvenile near the 1500 block of Campbellton Highway. Multiple officers quickly gathered in the area and began an extensive search.

According to public information, a tip led officers to the Southside Walmart, located at 3300 S. Oates St., where the child was found safe near the automotive department. As a precaution, emergency medical personnel were requested to conduct an on-scene medical evaluation.

The child was located more than a mile from the last known location. Authorities have not released additional details about the circumstances surrounding the disappearance.

The outcome serves as a reminder of how critical the first moments of a missing child investigation can be. The Dothan Police Department’s swift response, coordinated search efforts, and the information provided by the public helped bring the incident to a safe conclusion before it could become something far more serious.

For a family, there are few moments more frightening than not knowing where a child is. Thankfully, this search ended with the best possible outcome—a child safely reunited with those who care for them.
