DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) – Publix has issued a voluntary recall of a baby food product sold in its stores, including locations across Alabama, due to potential lead contamination.
The affected product is GreenWise Pear, Kiwi, Spinach & Pea Baby Food in 4-ounce plastic pouches with the GTIN 41415-00901 and a “Best If Used By” date of 11/01/2025.
According to Publix, the recall was prompted by routine testing that detected elevated levels of lead. The product was manufactured by Bowman Andros LLC and distributed to Publix stores across eight states, including Alabama, Florida and Georgia.
“As part of our commitment to food safety, potentially impacted products have been removed from all store shelves,” Maria Brous, Publix Director of Communications, said . “To date, there have been no reported cases of illness.”
Customers who purchased the recalled baby food can return it to any Publix location for a full refund. For more information, consumers can call 1-800-242-1227 or visit publix.com.
No illnesses have been reported, but families are encouraged to check their pantries and discard any affected products immediately.
