HOLMES COUNTY, Fla. (WDNews) — According to the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office, a traffic stop on July 5 led to the arrest of two people on drug-related charges after deputies reportedly discovered methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and ammunition inside a vehicle with a small child present.
According to the sheriff’s office, a deputy stopped a vehicle traveling on Highway 79 for traffic violations. As the deputy approached, marijuana plants were reportedly visible in the bed of the truck.
According to the sheriff’s office, the driver was identified as Desiree Jones. Deputies said the passenger initially refused to identify himself and repeatedly refused lawful commands to exit the vehicle. A backup deputy arrived and removed the passenger, who was later identified as David Albright.
According to the sheriff’s office, a probable cause search of Albright revealed a methamphetamine pipe in his pocket. A subsequent search of the vehicle reportedly uncovered additional methamphetamine pipes and a backpack next to a small child in the back seat. Deputies said the backpack contained methamphetamine and ammunition.
According to the sheriff’s office, Jones and Albright were each charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Child Neglect/Child Endangerment.
According to the sheriff’s office, Albright also faces charges of Resisting an Officer Without Violence and Possession of Ammunition by a Convicted Felon.
