WASHINGTON COUNTY, Fla. (WDNews) – A Washington County man has been arrested after being accused of having sexual relationships with two students at Vernon High School.
Authorities said 33-year-old Joshua Donald Myers, a teacher and coach at Vernon Middle School, faces charges including lewd and lascivious battery, two counts of lewd and lascivious molestation, and two counts of offenses against students by authority figures.
Investigators reported the victims were 16 years old when the alleged relationships began between December 2021 and December 2022. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office said the case was reported on Aug. 27, 2025, and an investigation began immediately.
The school district placed Myers on administrative leave the same day. According to deputies, the relationships allegedly started with flirting and social media messages, which led to invitations to Myers’ home. Investigators said multiple sexual encounters followed.
During an interview, Myers reportedly admitted to picking up the victims on one or more occasions and taking them to his house. A warrant was issued on Aug. 28, and Myers was taken into custody and booked into the Washington County Jail in Chipley, Fla.
