BONIFAY, Fla. (WDNews) — The Holmes County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help locating a man wanted on burglary and grand theft charges.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded Aug. 29 to Ander Brown Lane after a theft was reported.
The victim told deputies a miter saw had been stolen and provided security camera images showing a vehicle and a male suspect with distinctive tattoos.
With help from members of the public, deputies identified the suspect as James Fernandez.
Investigators later contacted Fernandez’s family at a home on Lake Victor Road and learned he was reportedly staying in the Springfield area of Bay County.
The sheriff’s office said investigators continued following leads and located surveillance video showing Fernandez inside a convenience store in Springfield.
As a result of the investigation, warrants were obtained for Fernandez on burglary and grand theft charges.
Fernandez remains wanted. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office or their nearest law enforcement agency.
The sheriff’s office warned the public not to attempt to apprehend or confront Fernandez.
“We would also like to thank the members of our community who assisted deputies in identifying the suspect. Your cooperation and willingness to provide information plays an important role in helping us solve crimes in Holmes County,” the sheriff’s office said.
