TROY, Ala. (WDNews) – Authorities have arrested a teenager after a Troy University student was shot following the school’s football game on Saturday night.
The incident happened around 9:30 p.m., shortly after Troy’s matchup with Nicholls State. Investigators say a female student was struck in the foot. She was taken to a nearby hospital, treated, and released.
The teen suspect was arrested with the combined efforts of Troy University Police, the City of Troy Police Department, and the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force.
Troy University Police Chief George Beaudry credited the experience of local officers in quickly identifying a suspect.
The teen is now in the Pike County Jail facing charges of second-degree assault and unlawful possession of a firearm.
