PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WDNews) — Authorities are searching for a man who escaped police custody Friday morning near East 7th Street and North MacArthur Avenue.
According to the Panama City Police Department, 28-year-old Rashaun O’Neal Mitchell was initially arrested Thursday on multiple drug and obstruction charges. Officers transported Mitchell to Ascension Sacred Heart Bay for medical clearance before booking him into jail.
Police say Mitchell managed to flee while officers were attempting to place him into a patrol car outside the hospital. He was still wearing handcuffs at the time of his escape and was last seen in a black T-shirt and red shorts.
Mitchell faces charges including trafficking various narcotics, possession with intent to distribute, tampering with evidence, fleeing and eluding, resisting arrest, and escape.
