MALVERN, Ala. (WDNews) — According to Gov. Kay Ivey’s office, the Town of Malvern has been awarded $350,000 in state funding to resurface all 11 existing streets within the town.
The project will cover about 2.12 miles of roadway. Malvern will contribute $175,000 in local funding, bringing the total project investment to $525,000.
The funding is being provided through the Alabama Department of Transportation’s Annual Grant Program, which was created under the Rebuild Alabama Act. Projects receiving funding are required to move forward within one year of the award.
“Good roads make for more jobs, smoother travel and happier Alabamians. That is why improving our infrastructure has remained a top priority of my Administration,” Ivey said. “Through Rebuild Alabama, we are putting dollars where rubber meets the road and delivering real results in all 67 counties. Long after the construction crews pack up, these investments will keep Alabama rolling, moving and growing for generations to come.”
