DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) — Porter Park will close out a full weekend of community events with Wiregrass Fest on Sunday, Oct. 4, featuring nine hours of live local music in downtown Dothan.
The all-day music festival is being curated by Arial Casey, with performances beginning at 1 p.m. and continuing through 9 p.m.
Organizers said visitors are welcome to stay for the entire event, stop by for an hour or leave and return later in the day.
“We just want you to experience some of the incredible musical talent we have right here in the Wiregrass,” Porter Park announced.
Coolers are allowed inside the park, but outside alcohol is not permitted. Coolers will be checked at the entrance. Porter Park officials said they are working on special event licenses for next year but are asking visitors to follow the current rules.
Anyone younger than 16 must be accompanied by an adult who is at least 19 years old. Children younger than 16 may not be dropped off at the park and must remain supervised during the event.
Visitors are also being asked to clean up before leaving. Trash cans will be available throughout the park.
“Porter Park belongs to all of us, and taking pride in our city means taking care of the places we all get to enjoy,” organizers said. “Our staff works hard to make these free events possible, and a little help from everyone goes a long way.”
Wiregrass Fest wraps up a three-day weekend of activities at Porter Park, beginning with a showing of “Hocus Pocus” Friday night, followed by the Walk With 5 Community Walk Saturday morning.
“A movie on Friday, a community walk Saturday morning and nine hours of local music on Sunday. That’s a pretty great weekend in downtown Dothan,” Porter Park said.
