HOUSTON COUNTY, Ala. (WDNews) — A Houston County native attending Auburn University has received a scholarship supporting students pursuing careers in agriculture.
According to the Alabama Farmers Federation, Wade Reynolds received a scholarship from the Alabama Farmers Agriculture Foundation and the Houston County Farmers Federation.
Reynolds was recognized Sept. 21 during the Federation’s annual scholarship reception at Lazenby Farms in Auburn. He is a junior studying agricultural business and economics at Auburn University.
The Federation said 79 students were honored during this year’s scholarship program. Through a partnership between the Alabama Farmers Agriculture Foundation and county Farmers Federations, nearly $140,000 in scholarships was awarded to Auburn University undergraduate students.
Federation President Jimmy Parnell said the organization is proud to invest in young people pursuing agriculture-related careers.
“We are very supportive of Auburn,” Parnell said. “Our beginnings of the Federation started at Auburn almost 105 years ago. We work hard to continue strengthening that relationship.”
Parnell also encouraged scholarship recipients to work hard and build relationships with their peers.
“Hard work will set you apart quicker than anything else,” Parnell said. “Learn to reason, take in facts and put out effort. In our society, thinking and figuring out solutions are important. If you can work hard, think and make friends, you will be successful.”
According to the Federation, applications for its 2026-27 scholarships open Nov. 1. The deadline to apply is Feb. 1, 2027. Applications will be available at AlfaFarmers.org/scholarships.
