BONIFAY, Fla. (WDNews) — A man sought by the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office has been identified and arrested after deputies said tips from the public helped identify him.

According to the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded Sept. 14 to a home on Highway 79 following a reported burglary and theft.

The victim provided deputies with photographs of the suspect and his vehicle. Those photos were released to the public, and with help from community members, deputies identified the suspect as Adam Bigler.

According to the sheriff’s office, Bigler was on state probation for fleeing and eluding and possession of a controlled substance. Deputies went to an address associated with Bigler and spoke with the homeowner, who said Bigler had been kicked out and was believed to be staying in a wooded area across from the home.

Deputies said they found a makeshift camp in the woods and discovered items that had been reported stolen from the Highway 79 residence.

While deputies were at the location, Bigler returned and was detained. According to the sheriff’s office, Bigler confessed during questioning to the burglary and theft.

Bigler was taken to the Holmes County Jail and charged with burglary and theft.

The sheriff’s office thanked the victim and members of the public who helped identify Bigler.

“Community involvement and cooperation continue to be an important part of solving crimes in Holmes County,” the sheriff’s office stated.
