SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. (WDNews) — The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office says all Flock cameras associated with the agency are no longer operating, while crews continue removing the equipment from county roads.
According to the sheriff’s office, Sheriff Dennis Lemma and Seminole County Commission Chairman Andria Herr issued a joint statement Aug. 31 announcing the suspension of the agency’s use of the Flock camera network.
On Sept. 1, the sheriff’s office formally notified Flock of the decision and directed the company to deactivate the network and begin removing all cameras deployed for the agency, including cameras along state and county roads.
The sheriff’s office said cameras located along state roadways have since been removed. Work is continuing to remove the remaining cameras along county roads.
While some cameras may still be physically in place, the sheriff’s office said they have been placed in a non-operational status and are no longer collecting or sharing new data.
Under the agency’s contract, Flock is responsible for removing the equipment. The sheriff’s office said it remains in contact with the company and has offered assistance from its personnel to help speed up the removal process.
The sheriff’s office said it appreciates the community’s patience and will continue working with Flock to expedite removal of the remaining cameras.
