DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) — Dothan City Schools is recognizing Josh McCray, a behavior specialist at Dothan High School, as its September 2026 Employee of the Month.

According to Dothan City Schools, McCray was recognized during the Dothan City Board of Education’s regular meeting for the difference he is making each day.

Although McCray has only been at Dothan High School for a short time, the district said his proactive approach, consistent presence and genuine care for students have helped him quickly build trust and become an important part of the school community.

McCray also brings an extensive football background back home to the Wiregrass. He had a stellar high school football career at Enterprise High School before playing college football as a running back for four years at Illinois and one year at Georgia.

After his college career, McCray returned to the Wiregrass and is now the running backs coach for the Dothan High Wolves football team.

In his role as a behavior specialist, McCray supports students through challenges, assists teachers and takes time to listen. The district said he leads with compassion and initiative, and his impact is already being felt by students. Many have personally requested McCray as a mentor.

“Congratulations, Coach McCray! We are proud to have you as a member of our Wolfpack!” Dothan City Schools said.
