MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WDNews) — Gov. Kay Ivey is encouraging Alabamians to show their school spirit as the state prepares to celebrate College Colors Day.
Ivey will proclaim Friday, Sept. 4, 2026, as College Colors Day in Alabama during an event Thursday at the Alabama State Capitol.
According to the governor’s office, Ivey will be joined by college students and mascots representing Alabama’s 14 public universities and institutions. She will deliver remarks and present the official College Colors Day proclamation.
College Colors Day promotes higher education in Alabama and recognizes the state’s public universities and the role they play in educating, serving and improving the lives of Alabama residents.
Faculty, staff, students, alumni and college sports fans across Alabama are encouraged to wear apparel or colors representing their favorite university throughout the day Sept. 4.
Thursday’s proclamation event is scheduled for 11 a.m. on the front steps of the Alabama State Capitol, 600 Dexter Ave. in Montgomery.
