MARIANNA, Fla. (WDNews) — Downtown Marianna is getting ready for fall with a new scarecrow-building contest inviting local businesses and organizations to show off their creativity.
Main Street Marianna’s “Scarecrows on the Street” contest begins Sept. 1 and is free to enter.
Participants can create scarecrows that are funny, traditional, whimsical, business-themed or completely original. All scarecrows must be displayed where they can easily be seen by drivers and pedestrians.
Registration is open through Sept. 18.
Judging will take place Friday, Sept. 25, with winners announced Oct. 1.
Winners will receive a business spotlight on Main Street Marianna’s social media pages, Main Street Marianna merchandise and a fall gift basket.
Organizers hope the contest will help turn downtown into a festive fall destination while encouraging residents and visitors to stroll, shop, dine and spend time in the area.
