VERNON, Fla. (WDNews) — According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, a man wanted in connection with an alleged machete incident in Panama City was arrested Tuesday, Aug. 5, at a home in Vernon.
The sheriff’s office said it assisted the U.S. Marshals Florida/Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force after receiving information that a wanted felon could be in Washington County.
Deputies assigned to the U.S. Marshals Task Force located Everette Kirchbaum at a residence in Vernon, according to the sheriff’s office. Kirchbaum was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Washington County Jail.
Authorities said Kirchbaum was wanted by the Panama City Police Department on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
According to the sheriff’s office, the charge stems from an incident Aug. 4 when Panama City police responded to a Publix parking lot for a disturbance involving two men who were reportedly armed with machetes.
Following the investigation, authorities obtained a warrant for Kirchbaum’s arrest on the aggravated assault charge.
