PIKE COUNTY, Ala. (WDNews) — According to the Pike County Sheriff’s Office, 57-year-old Bobby Richard “Ricky” Faulkner was arrested July 30 after a concerned citizen reported that he had been removing bridge components from bridges in Pike County, prompting an investigation.
Investigators said they had previously observed Faulkner tampering with bridge end caps at one of the affected bridges. Deputies later received additional information that Faulkner was transporting the stolen bridge parts on a trailer. With the help of witnesses and evidence, investigators developed probable cause, according to the sheriff’s office.
During a search of Faulkner’s residence, authorities said they located illegal narcotics “believed to be Methamphetamine.” The substance was collected and submitted to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for laboratory analysis.
After obtaining a warrant, investigators took Faulkner into custody. He was booked into the Pike County Jail on charges of first-degree theft of property and probation violation. Jail records show his bond was set at $15,000 on the theft charge, while no bond was listed for the probation violation.
According to the sheriff’s office, Faulkner was serving probation for sexual misconduct charges from 2023.
“The investigation remains active as investigators are continuing efforts to recover the stolen bridge components and determine whether additional offenses have occurred,” Pike County Sheriff Russell Thomas said in a release.
