Wiregrass 9/11 Memorial Climb Set for Sept. 12

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) — The Wiregrass community will have an opportunity to honor the lives lost during the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks by taking part in the Wiregrass 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb and Walk/Ruck on Saturday, Sept. 12.

The event will begin at 6 p.m. at Rip Hewes Stadium in Dothan and is open to participants of all ages.

Those taking part can choose to climb 110 stories in honor of the firefighters who climbed the World Trade Center towers during the attacks, or participate in a 5K walk or ruck. The event commemorates the firefighters and first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice on Sept. 11.

This year’s memorial marks the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

The event is sponsored by Dothan Fire and benefits the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, with proceeds supporting the organization’s mission to honor fallen firefighters and assist their families.
