GENEVA, Ala. (WDNews) — A Geneva man has been arrested after a series of vehicle break-ins on the north side of the city, according to the Geneva Police Department.
Police said officers were notified on Wednesday, June 24, of several vehicle break-ins at various locations on the north side of Geneva. While investigating the cases, officers identified common evidence at each scene that led them to a residence in the 300 block of West Campbell Avenue.
According to police, officers received the homeowner’s consent to search the residence. During the search, they recovered illegal drugs, a firearm and several items confirmed to belong to victims of the breaking and entering cases.
Police said that within less than two hours of the initial report, investigators had recovered most of the stolen property and arrested one suspect.
Dustin Scott Alred has been charged with:
Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance
Identity Theft (six counts)
Illegal Possession of Debit Cards (five counts)
Certain Persons Forbidden to Possess a Firearm
According to the Geneva Police Department, Alred is being held in the Geneva County Jail pending his first court appearance.
Police said additional charges are expected as the investigation continues, and investigators are still searching for additional suspects.
