DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) — The Houston County Sheriff’s Office is inviting community members to attend a Civilian Safety Awareness Program presented by SABRE on Thursday, July 16.
The free presentation will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, 411 N. Foster St., Dothan.
According to the sheriff’s office, the program is designed to help participants recognize and avoid potentially dangerous situations while also providing an overview of personal safety and less-lethal products that are commercially available.
Topics scheduled to be covered include:
Situational awareness
Personal safety tips
Personal safety products
Community safety
According to event information, “This presentation will cover how to identify and avoid potentially dangerous situations, along with an overview of personal safety and less-lethal products that are commercially available.”
Because of the subject matter, organizers say the presentation is recommended for individuals 15 years of age and older.
Attendance is limited to 20 participants. According to the sheriff’s office, “If you register after the maximum number of attendees has been reached, you will be placed on a waiting list and notified by email. We will also notify you of future presentation dates and times as they become available.”
