DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) — Wiregrass 2-1-1 is encouraging the community to take part in its first annual ComfortCALLS Day on July 16 by making a few simple phone calls to help combat loneliness among homebound seniors.
According to Wiregrass 2-1-1, ComfortCALLS is the organization’s telephone reassurance program designed to support homebound seniors who may be experiencing isolation. Through the program, volunteers make scheduled phone calls that provide friendly conversation, connection and comfort.
The organization is inviting residents across the Wiregrass to participate in the July 16 initiative by reaching out to people in their own lives.
“On July 16, we invite our entire community to join us in making a difference,” Wiregrass 2-1-1 said. “Take a few moments to place three simple phone calls—to a homebound church member, a family member, or a retired friend. With the extreme July heat, it’s the perfect time to check in on their well-being and lift their spirits.”
Wiregrass 2-1-1 says even a brief conversation can make a meaningful difference.
“A small gesture can go a long way. Make the connection. Show compassion. Share comfort.”
