DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) — Young anglers will have a chance to cast a line, learn new skills and compete for prizes during the 29th Annual Youth Fishing Day hosted by Dothan Leisure Services.
According to Dothan Leisure Services, the free event will be held Saturday, July 18, from 7:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Eastgate Park Pond, located at 2049 Sanitary Dairy Road in Dothan.
The event is open to children ages 5 through 15, with all experience levels welcome.
Organizers said participants will have the opportunity to enjoy a morning outdoors while competing for more than $1,000 in prizes and giveaways.
The first 100 young anglers will receive a swag bag provided by Dothan Coca-Cola Bottling Company UNITED, and snacks will be provided by Dothan Pediatric Clinic. The first 100 attendees will also receive a complimentary breakfast biscuit.
Fishing supplies will be available in limited quantities. Families are encouraged to bring their own fishing rods, tackle, bait and stringers.
Children must be accompanied by an adult.
No registration is required for the event. Organizers said participants can simply show up and fish.
