DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) — Shoppers across Alabama will have the opportunity to prepare for severe weather while saving money during the state’s Severe Weather Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday, scheduled for Feb. 20-22.
During the three-day event, certain emergency preparedness supplies will be exempt from state sales tax. Eligible items include portable weather radios, flashlights, batteries, ice packs and other approved emergency equipment.
State officials encourage residents to take advantage of the tax holiday to stock up on essential supplies ahead of Alabama’s peak severe weather season. The annual event is designed to help families prepare for potential storms, tornadoes and other weather-related emergencies.
