DOTHAN, Ala. — The City of Dothan will mark Arbor Day with a special celebration Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026, at the Dothan Area Botanical Gardens.
The program begins at 10 a.m. at the garden, located at 5130 Headland Ave. During the event, Dothan will be recognized as Alabama’s Tree City of the Year.
Several local and state leaders are scheduled to speak, including Delvick McKay with the City of Dothan; David West, AUFCA Arbor Day coordinator; Thomas Moss and Ed Lewis with the Alabama Forestry Commission; and Erica Hall, director of transportation for Dothan City Schools.
As part of the ceremony, a tree will be planted on-site in honor of all Dothan City School bus drivers. The Alabama Forestry Commission will also distribute a limited number of free trees to attendees.
The event is free and open to the public.
