PIKE COUNTY, Ala. (WDNews) – A two-vehicle crash early Saturday morning claimed the lives of two children on Alabama 167.
Alabama Law Enforcement Agency officials say the wreck happened around 5:20 a.m. Sept. 20 near the 49-mile marker, about nine miles south of TROY.
Authorities report a 2-year-old and a 5-year-old, both passengers in a 2018 Nissan Kicks, were fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Nissan, Charles R. Holmes Jr., 37, of Geneva, was transported to Troy Regional Medical Center for treatment. Two other children, ages 6 and 10, were also injured and taken to a local hospital.
The Nissan collided with a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 16-year-old.
The crash remains under investigation by ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division.
