ASHFORD, Ala. (WDNews) – Drivers on U.S. Highway 84 reportedly acted quickly late Tuesday afternoon to protect a handicapped child who was allegedly pedaling a bicycle with training wheels in the middle of traffic.
Reports say the boy was seen in the westbound lanes near Ashford. Motorists, including an 18-wheeler, allegedly formed a rolling roadblock to shield the child. One driver reportedly maneuvered ahead of the bicycle and removed the boy from the highway safely.
The child was not injured, but a two-vehicle crash allegedly occurred as his mother attempted to reach him. First responders reportedly said those involved, including the mother, suffered minor injuries.
Authorities have not released further details on the incident.
