DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) – A community gathering aimed at addressing challenges facing Black youth will be held in DOTHAN later this month.
The “Brothers Building Bridges” event will take place Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025, at 9 a.m. at the Dixie Diner, located at 220 E. Powell Street. The event is designed to bring Black men in education and the community together in a safe, supportive space.
Organizers say the program will provide an opportunity to openly discuss academic, behavioral, and emotional challenges facing young people while working collaboratively to identify solutions that strengthen families and communities.
The guest speaker will be Johnathan Hackett, a Birmingham City Schools educator. The event is sponsored by the Wright Star Foundation, which encourages men across the Wiregrass to attend and take part in the conversation.
