MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WDNews) — The Alabama Department of Insurance has approved final premium rates for the Affordable Care Act (ACA) Individual Market for 2026. The new rates will take effect Jan. 1.
Four carriers will participate in Alabama’s individual market next year: Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama, UnitedHealthcare Insurance Company, Celtic Insurance Company, and Oscar Insurance Company.
According to the department, average rate increases are 19.3 percent for Blue Cross Blue Shield, 20 percent for UnitedHealthcare, and 25 percent for Celtic Insurance. Oscar Insurance is entering the Alabama ACA market for the first time in 2026 and does not have a previous rate history.
