DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) – Families in Houston, Henry, and Dale counties can now enroll in a free program aimed at helping young children get ready for kindergarten.
The Pre-K Readiness Program, offered through the Alfred Saliba Family Services Center’s HIPPY (Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters) initiative, provides parents with the tools they need to prepare children ages 2–5 for school success.
The 30-week curriculum includes age-appropriate storybooks, supplies, and activities that promote literacy, language, math, science, and physical and motor skills. Organizers say just 10–15 minutes a day of participation can help close the achievement gap and boost a child’s confidence before starting school.
Enrollment is open now. Families can sign up Monday through Friday at 545 West Main Street in Dothan or call (334) 792-6255 for more information.
The program is funded by the Alfred Saliba Family Services Center, the Children’s Trust Fund of Alabama, and HIPPY USA.
