DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) – The Dothan Police Department is inviting residents to join officers for Coffee and Conversation as part of National Coffee with a Cop Day on Wednesday, Oct. 1.
The event will be held from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. at Mural City Coffee Company, located at 192 S. Foster Street in downtown Dothan.
National Coffee with a Cop Day began in 2016 as part of National Community Policing Week and is now observed nationwide each year on the first Wednesday of October. The initiative is designed to encourage communication and build trust between law enforcement and the public.
“Coffee with a Cop is community policing at its core. The simple act of having a cup of coffee with community members can be the first step in increasing trust and cooperation between the police and the people they serve,” said Ronald L. Davis, former director of the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services.
The Dothan Police Department encourages community members to attend, ask questions, and connect with officers in a casual setting. Coffee will be paid for by the Dothan Police Department
