COTTONWOOD, Ala. (WDNews) – A Controlled burn got out of hand Monday, September 22, and set a barn on fire at 636 Wayne Road, between Hickory Grove Road and Guy Branch Road.
Houston County 911 dispatched crews after the fire spread quickly, causing damage to nearby structures. Cottonwood, Madrid, Hodgesville, Lucy, Lovetown, and Ashford volunteer fire departments all responded.
The first firefighter on the scene reported the barn was “actively burning” and “fully engulfed.” There were reports that an additional structure had been damaged as well.
No further details have been released at this time.
