ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDNews) — The Enterprise Farmers Market held its annual Vendor Appreciation Luncheon on Thursday, August 21, honoring farmers, artists and food vendors for their dedication and contributions to the community.
City Councilmembers Eugene Goolsby and Scotty Johnson attended on behalf of city leadership to express their gratitude. Both councilmembers are regular visitors to the market and often volunteer at special events.
The luncheon also served as a farewell to longtime vendor Billy Peters, who is retiring after 50 years of farming and more than two decades of selling produce at the market. Peters was presented with a glass plaque to commemorate his service.
Market Manager Birgit Briggs grew emotional as she reflected on his impact.
“Your integrity, steadfast focus on farming, and your contributions to our Farmers Market have been instrumental in shaping our success, and your legacy will not be forgotten,” Briggs said. “You have been not only a mentor, but also a friend and a true ambassador of our shared mission.”
Founded in 2004, the Enterprise Farmers Market continues to provide fresh produce, local goods and handmade items year-round. The market is open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 525 North Main Street.
