DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews)— City officials counted 13 provisional ballots Monday from last week’s municipal election, while 19 others were disqualified due to missing verification forms.
The City Clerk’s office held the public canvassing at 10 a.m. in the Dothan City Commission Chambers. Of the 38 provisional ballots cast on Aug. 5, six were deemed ineligible, and 19 could not be examined because PB-3 verification statement forms were missing.
According to the Secretary of State’s Director of Elections, the missing forms are believed to be sealed inside PB-1 ballot envelopes. State rules prohibit unsealing those envelopes to retrieve the forms, meaning the ballots cannot be counted.
All 19 uncounted ballots were cast in District 2 at Wiregrass Recreation Center.
Provisional voters can contact their county board of registrars to check whether their ballot was counted or to learn the reason it was rejected. The Houston County Board of Registrars can be reached at 334-677-4775, and the Dale County Board at 334-774-9038.
