Public Hearing Set for July 31 on Dothan Landfill Permit Changes

Dothan, Ala. (WDNews) – The Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) will hold a public hearing on Thursday, July 31, 2025, to discuss proposed changes to the permit for the City of Dothan Sanitary Landfill.

The hearing is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. in the Commission Chambers at the Dothan Civic Center. ADEM officials say the hearing will cover a proposed renewal, modification, and variance related to the facility’s solid waste disposal permit (Permit 35-06).

Residents and stakeholders are invited to attend and provide oral or written comments. According to ADEM, all feedback must directly address the permit’s conditions, the department’s compliance with environmental laws, and any issues affecting the applicant’s ability to meet those requirements.

ADEM noted that comments must include technically substantial information to be considered in the agency’s final decision.
