Ozark, Ala. (WDNews) — A 26-year-old Ozark woman has been arrested and charged with reckless murder following a fatal crash that claimed the life of an Enterprise man last month.
According to the Ozark Police Department, Jada Lashun Hall was taken into custody on July 23 in connection with the June 15 collision that killed 65-year-old Rickey Charles Hughes. The crash happened around 2:42 p.m. on Highway 231 at Roy Parker Road.
Investigators say Hall was driving under the influence of alcohol and narcotics at the time of the crash and was also traveling at a high rate of speed. These factors were determined to have significantly impaired her ability to drive safely.
The Ozark Police Department’s Traffic Homicide Unit led the investigation, with support from the Dale County Sheriff’s Office, Dale County Coroner’s Office, and the Alabama State Bureau of Investigation (SBI).
Following search warrants and forensic analysis, police obtained an arrest warrant on July 21. Hall was formally charged with reckless murder, a charge that reflects what investigators describe as a combination of speed and impairment that led to a preventable tragedy.
