DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) — Pet owners in the Wiregrass region can take advantage of low-cost cat spay and neuter services this summer through an overnight transport program coordinated by Blooper Animal Rescue.
The Wiregrass Spay & Neuter Transport is scheduled for Tuesday, July 22, with pick-up on Wednesday, July 23, 2025. Services are available by prepayment only, and space is limited. The transport is for cats only.
Through a partnership with FUR (Felines Under Rescue) and the Wiregrass Spay/Neuter Alliance, the program offers discounted rates for qualifying households.
Pet owners with Alabama Medicaid can access the service for just $25 per cat, which includes spay/neuter and rabies vaccination. Participants must provide a valid Medicaid card and photo ID or driver’s license. The discounted rate is limited to two pets per household per year.
Those without Medicaid can still participate at a rate of $70, which includes spay/neuter services, rabies, and FVRCP vaccinations.
Drop-off and pick-up will occur at multiple stops across the Wiregrass, including:
- Walmart, 1991 M. L. King Jr. Drive, Andalusia
- Tractor Supply, 1305 Boll Weevil Circle, Enterprise
- Tractor Supply, 511 Florala Highway, Opp
- Dollar General, 378 US Hwy 84, Daleville
