FORT NOVOSEL, Ala. (WDNews) — Teens interested in becoming certified babysitters can sign up now for a one-day training course hosted by U.S. Army Child and Youth Services on July 16.
The Teen Babysitter’s Course will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Youth Sports and Fitness Building, located at 8950 7th Avenue. The training is open to youth ages 13 to 18, and space is limited to 10 participants.
The course costs $30 and requires a valid Child and Youth Services (CYS) registration. Participants must bring their own snack and lunch. Registration closes July 15, 2025.
To be placed on the CYS Babysitter’s List, participants must complete the course and submit signed permission and release forms from a parent. These forms also include consent for Child Abuse Prevention Training.
The training will cover a range of essential caregiving topics including:
- American Red Cross CPR, AED, and First Aid certification
- Home and fire safety training
- Basic childcare and feeding
- Diaper changing
- Basic child abuse prevention
“Youth must complete the full day of training to receive certification,” said Sasha LaForge, Training and Curriculum Specialist.
