Attorney General Steve Marshall has officially opened the application window for the 2025 Alabama Safe Schools Initiative Awards, inviting schools across the state to showcase their efforts to keep students safe.
Applications are due by Friday, August 15, 2025.
The annual program honors schools that go above and beyond in campus safety—highlighting innovation, training, collaboration with emergency responders, and community involvement.
“There is nothing more important than protecting the health and safety of our children, especially while they are in school,” Marshall said. “This program helps spotlight schools and communities that build strong partnerships and embrace innovative safety technologies.”
The four-phase evaluation process includes a review by independent judges with real-world experience in school safety. They’ll assess applicants on everything from school resource officer involvement and safety technology, to law-related education and prevention programs.
