Covington County, Ala. (WDNews) – A tragic two-vehicle crash Friday evening has claimed the lives of two people, including a young woman from Headland.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the crash happened around 5:45 p.m. on June 27 on County Road 70 near Mary Williamson Road, about five miles northeast of Andalusia.
Troopers say 37-year-old Travis B. Duke of Andalusia was driving a 2014 Dodge Charger when he collided head-on with a 2025 Kia K4 driven by 20-year-old Christy D. Shaw of Headland. After the crash, the Charger overturned, and the Kia ran into a ditch.
Both Duke and Shaw were not wearing seat belts and were pronounced dead at the scene.
An 18-year-old passenger in the Kia was injured and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their condition has not been released.
Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division are continuing to investigate the crash.
