ABBEVILLE, Ala. (WDNews) — An arrest has been made in connection with a fatal hit-and-run that claimed the life of an Abbeville woman Friday night.
According to Abbeville Police Chief Marlos Walker, 31-year-old Levi Smith has been arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident causing injury or death.
The investigation began after emergency crews responded Friday night to the 100 block of Ozark Road (Alabama Highway 27), where 46-year-old Brandy Duncan of Abbeville was found with injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities previously said the crash is believed to have occurred between 8:20 p.m. and 8:40 p.m. Friday. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s State Trooper Traffic Homicide Unit assisted the Abbeville Police Department with the investigation.
Additional details about the arrest have not yet been released. The investigation remains ongoing, and no further information was immediately available.
