DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) — The 19th Annual Downtown Dothan Hoops Classic Basketball Tournament brought more than just competition to the Civic Center this winter.
City officials say the tournament, held Dec. 26–31, 2025, generated $91,424 in proceeds after expenses. The funds were distributed among 16 participating teams based on the number of games played.
Leisure Services leaders say the milestone marks more than just another successful year. Over the past 19 years, the tournament has raised and distributed more than $1 million to schools across the Wiregrass.
The official check presentation to coaches took place Feb. 9, highlighting the tournament’s impact on local athletic programs and students.
Leisure Services extended thanks to the Performing Arts Department, Police Department, Fire Department, sponsors, volunteers, fans and participating schools for helping make the annual event a continued success.
