DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) — The First Friday Art Crawl returns to downtown DOTHAN this week with a special edition to kick off the “Vote Dothan” campaign in support of a national arts grant.
The event will be held Friday, Sept. 5, 2025, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the corner of Cherokee and Main. Hosted by Art in Public Places, the art crawl will feature vendors, live music, and food from Greek Street Dothan. Organizers say the evening will serve as the official launch of the Vote Dothan campaign, aimed at securing a Levitt Foundation AMP Grant that could bring a free outdoor concert series to the new Porter Park Amphitheatre beginning in 2026.
Participating businesses include Bells Gallery, Gourmet Handmade, Kricket Photography, The Cellar Door, Velvet Gallery, and Vino on Main.
Art in Public Places is a finalist for the Levitt AMP Grant, which supports communities with free outdoor concerts. Public voting will play a key role in determining whether DOTHAN is selected. Community partners include the City of Dothan, Tri-State Expo Juneteenth Affairs, and Live at the Opera.
Voting opens Sept. 5 at noon and will close Sept. 15 at 7 p.m. Residents can vote online at levitt.org/vote or by texting DOTHAN to 877-409-5525.
