Man Arrested After 21-Year-Old Alabama Mother Found Dead

FAYETTE COUNTY, Ala. (WDNews) – Laci Whitson, a 21-year-old mother from Fayette County, Alabama was found dead on June 30. Michael Wade Tucker, the last person to be seen with Whitson, has been charged with her death.

Whitson was reported missing by family members after she was last seen on June 26 in Florence, Alabama.

Family members say Whitson was last seen with Tucker while walking away from his residence.

Her cell phone had been turned off.

In a press release issued Tuesday, Fayette County Sheriff Byron Yerby said Tucker, 36, is charged with murder in Whitson’s death. Authorities have not said how she was killed.

Yerby said sheriff’s investigators, State Bureau of Investigation agents, and the 24th Circuit District Attorney’s Office processed the scene and collected multiple items of evidence.

Tucker was charged within 24 hours of the discovery of Whitson’s body.

Tucker is currently being held at the Fayette County Jail.

Whitson is survived by her young son, as well as her parents and siblings.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Nelson Funeral Home Chapel in Fayette, Alabama.
