Dothan Woman Indicted After Child Ejected in Crash

Daeisha McGowan mugshot (Houston County Jail)

DOTHAN, AL (WDNews) – A Dothan woman faces serious charges after failing to secure her young son, resulting in his death following a crash.

Houston County grand jurors have indicted 31-year-old Daeisha McGowan for not placing her three-year-old son, Tristan McGowan, in a proper restraint. The incident occurred on November 29, 2023, when McGowan’s truck collided with another vehicle along Ross Clark Circle, right in front of the Toyota dealership. The impact was severe enough that Tristan was ejected from the truck.

Authorities report that the crash was a result of McGowan pulling into the path of oncoming traffic, causing a three-vehicle pile-up. This incident adds to McGowan’s existing record, which includes charges for illegal drug possession and multiple traffic violations.

Following the indictment, McGowan has posted bond.
