Diamond Head Lake Murder Leads Investigators to a Chipley Man

WASHINGTON COUNTY, FL; June 21, 2024 (WDNews)- An arrest has been made following an investigation into the death of Randy Joseph Lynn, a Panama City resident.

Early this morning, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) apprehended Kyle Michael Porter, 24, of Chipley, FL. The arrest is connected to a fatal shooting incident on April 27th at Diamond Head Lake.

According to the WCSO, Porter and two other coworkers were at his house for a day of fishing and socializing. As the day progressed, the group became intoxicated, leading to an altercation. During the conflict, Porter allegedly produced a firearm and shot Lynn, who succumbed to his injuries.

Porter’s wife reported that he called her from their dock, asking her to call law enforcement and an ambulance, stating he had just shot someone. When deputies arrived, all parties involved were still present at the scene.

After a thorough investigation, WCSO charged Porter with one count of manslaughter. He is currently booked into the Washington County Jail, awaiting bond.
