Firearm Assault in Gordon, AL: Suspect Fled, Victims Hospitalized

Travis Cyntell Dickson was wanted on Attempted Murder Charges, Arson and more in Houston County, AL

GORDON, Ala (WDNews) – On the evening of June 18, 2024, around 7:22 PM, the Houston County Communication Center dispatched emergency units to 377 Tifton Road in Gordon, AL, following reports of a firearm assault. Houston County Sheriff Deputies, along with officers from Ashford and Cottonwood, responded swiftly. Ashford EMS also arrived to provide medical assistance.

An Ashford police officer was among the first on the scene. 911 callers identified the suspect as 42-year-old Travis Dickson, who fled in a red Dodge Charger. The Ashford officer spotted the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but Dickson sped away, reaching speeds of 130 MPH before the officer lost contact.

Upon securing the scene, deputies and officers allowed Ashford Rescue to attend to the victims. A woman, who was in a relationship with Dickson, suffered a gunshot wound to her upper leg, while a female juvenile was shot in the abdomen. Both were transported to SE Health for treatment.

Further investigation revealed that Dickson had also set a fire inside the residence while it was occupied by family members. He then fled to the Greentree Apartments in Headland, AL, abandoning the red Charger and acquiring a silver 2018 Chevrolet Cruze from a friend. Near midnight, Dickson left the area and traveled to Tallahassee, FL, where the Tallahassee PD later found the Cruze abandoned at an apartment complex on Magnolia Drive.

Travis Dickson is now wanted on multiple charges: two counts of attempted murder (no bond), one count of shooting into an occupied dwelling ($60,000 bond), and one count of first-degree arson ($30,000 bond). Authorities are actively searching for him.
