Fireworks and Fun: Kickoff Your July 4th Celebrations Making a Difference

Community Comes Together for a Night of Celebration and Charity

DOTHAN, Ala (WDNews) – Just in time for the start of July 4th celebrations, this year’s celebratory fundraising event, spearheaded by the National Peanut Festival and Jason Rudd, promises to be bigger and better.

“It grows more and more every year. The turnout always depends on the weather. We see somewhere between 10 to 15 thousand people each year attend this event,” Rudd shared.

“The event, benefiting the Wiregrass United Way, has raised between $30,000 to $40,000 annually in past years,” Rudd said. These funds empower local organizations to improve lives and create lasting change in our community.

The evening will be packed with activities and entertainment:

5 PM: Gates open to the public with vendors, food trucks, free watermelon slices, inflatables, and peanut samples.

5 PM – 9 PM: Enjoy live music from the Outback Alley Band.

8 PM: Car show winners announced, along with free Blue Bell ice cream samples.

8:45 PM: Presentation of Colors, prayer, Pledge of Allegiance, and the National Anthem at the Ag Barn Stage.

9 PM: A spectacular fireworks show lasting 20 to 25 minutes.

Parking is only $10 per carload. Attendees are encouraged to bring their families, friends, cameras, American flags, folding chairs, and blankets. Small tents are welcome until sundown.

Other attractions include a children’s train ride, antique tractors, firetruck and helicopter displays, and a dunking booth. Food and drink vendors will be on-site to cater to all tastes.
