Marianna, FL: On Thursday, April 11, 2024, at approximately 6:30 PM, Marianna Police Department officers responded to the 4200 block of Old Cottondale Road following a hit-and-run incident. The concerned citizen provided vehicle details and photographic evidence to aid law enforcement.

Officers located the vehicle near Hall Street and Sunset Drive. Upon spotting law enforcement, the vehicle accelerated, initiating a high-speed pursuit. Despite efforts to stop the vehicle, it evaded capture, shedding its front bumper on Hall Street before fleeing east onto Lafayette Street.

Despite the officers’ pursuit with lights and sirens activated, the vehicle continued to evade capture, navigating residential areas at dangerous speeds. Concerned for public safety, the pursuit was terminated by the officer as they approached Clay Street.

However, the fleeing vehicle, driven by Alexis Miller, persisted, accelerating through the streets. Unfortunantlythe pursuit ended in a collision with a utility pole and large tree on Borden Street.

Remarkably, both Miller and her three-year-old daughter, who was found unrestrained in the backseat, emerged unharmed from the collision. Miller was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility pending her first appearance in court.

The Marianna Police Department urges citizens to prioritize safety and compliance with traffic laws, emphasizing the potential consequences of reckless behavior on the road.
