Kia has issued a recall affecting 427,407 of its popular Telluride SUVs, spanning model years 2020 to certain 2024 models. The recall addresses a potential safety concern where the vehicles could roll away while parked, attributed to an assembly issue with the steering wheel component.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the defect could lead to unintended movement if the parking brake is not engaged, with affected vehicles possibly emitting a grinding noise. Kia advises all affected Telluride owners to visit a dealership for the installation of updated electronic parking brake software, with reimbursement offered for the repair costs.

The recall comes amidst high demand for the Telluride, highlighting the importance of ensuring vehicle safety alongside production efficiency. Owners are urged to promptly address this issue to maintain safe operation of their vehicles.
