A wrongful death lawsuit against an Elba nursing home has been settled out of court. The 2022 lawsuit was filed by the estate of 86-year-old Benjamin Smith against Elba Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after smith suffered a fall and died a month later while at the center. The nursing home will pay $450,000 to the man’s widow.
